Join a group of New York City songwriters: Maggie Dubris, David Allen Hammond, Jeanie Putnam, and Noah Shapiro (when available), and experience their unique, collaborative songwriting process in an intimate setting. This group has developed an original method allowing the seeds of the subconscious to grow and flow into their songs.
Elements include writing exercises, free-writing exercises, guided meditation (as a key to unlock subconscious material), exploration of song forms, crafting melodies and harmonies, and feedback. Guests are invited to write their own songs in a separate but parallel process, and are welcome to join in the free writing, guided meditation, and feedback sections. The afternoon will close with a song circle, and all are welcome to share a song, play along or just enjoy the music. Experienced songwriters, beginners, musicians and non-musicians alike are welcome!
Price: $275 for one person, $220 per person for a group of 2.
About The Host:
Maggie Dubris is a published author of fiction and poetry (Skels, Weep Not My Wanton), and is a songwriter and former guitarist for the Lower East Side New York band Homer Erotic.
David Allen Hammond is a singer-songwriter and guitarist. He has co-written Grammy nominated songs with Jimmie Dale Gilmore and Kevin Welch. His songs have been covered by Jimmie Dale Gilmore, M. Ward, Jane Saunders and others. David has spent over 25 years writing and performing in Austin, Texas.
Noah Shapiro is a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, music therapist and educator in NYC.
Jeanie Putnam is a singer-songwriter, classical pianist, actress and educator in NYC. |
